Opinion: "Bound by Honor" - Cora Reilly

Title: Bound by Honor
(Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles #1)
Author: Cora Reilly
Published by: Smashwords
ISBN: 9781311736420
Pages: 253
Synopsis: Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca – The Vice – Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.
Now with eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.
Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.
In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.
The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.
Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

Opinion (may contain spoilers):
"Bound by Honor" is the first book of the Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, where we enter the world of Luca and Aria, two completely different people who have more in common than they think. This book was a complete punch in the heart, it was so raw but at the same time so emotional! I just wish there were more books focusing Luca and Aria's story! I really do!

Two important families in the world of crime came to a deal! In order to keep peace between them and to join forces, Aria was promised to Luca at fifteen! And once she was eighteen, she would marry him! Aria always thought of Luca as a cold hearted man and a killer! He's also known for killing a man by crushing his throat with his bare hands! Aria was terrified but she had no choice! So the marriage happened. And now, Aria's nightmare would begin, she thought!

Luca has got those hypnotic gray eyes and his smile only transmits arrogance and malice. It's really easy for Luca to lose control when he's pissed off at something! His eyes and face say it all! And that always scare Aria, that she would make him mad at the point that he would lose control and hurt her. she was even afraid when he lifted his hand simply to touch her cheek or something!

But what terrified her - the most was that he would force himself into her without her consent! Aria always made it clear, that she wanted to be ready to do it with him but the moment wasn't there yet! However, knowing Luca as she knew him and his lack of self control, would he be able to step back and not do something that he would regret? Or would Aria be able to talk him out of it and make the true moment count?

In spite of Luca's cold personality, Aria's got to know him better each day they spent with each other! And quickly she learned that maybe being married and living with Luca wasn't that bad. But the question remained? Would Luca learn to control himself around her even when he was mad at something else?

The world of "Bound by Honor" was filled of Mafia aspects and the respective environment! And I think that was something amazing to see! That in a world full of crime, blood and death, people are still able to love!

I'm pretty sure I won't forget this book so soon! Luca and Aria were such likeable people and their differences just made me like them even more! This was a cut example of that well-known expression: "opposites attract"! I just wish there was another book with more about them! I guess there's still so many things to know and to tell and it would be amazing to see how Luca and Aria were dealing with that last slap in the face dialogue! I mean, what was that talk Luca! I wanna know!
